Smokey Brae and Marionville

Proposals for the whole area

In 2022 we carried out a number of consultation activities with the local community and other key stakeholders on our plans for Smokey Brae, including Marionville Avenue and Restalrig Avenue.

 and the earlier proposals.

Using your feedback we further developed these proposals to include

  • traffic calming measures at and on approach to the proposed priority junction of Smokey Brae, Restalrig Avenue and Marionville Avenue
  • traffic calming measures along the full length of Restalrig Avenue and Marionville Avenue. These measures have been designed to prioritise fire appliances exiting from Marionville Fire Station
  • extensions and improvements to the protected cycle lanes
    • northbound on Smokey Brae
    • eastbound on London Road (down from Jock’s Lodge)
    • through the proposed priority junction of Smokey Brae, Restalrig Avenue and Marionville Avenue.
  • proposals for nicer public spaces, including areas of planting and seating
  • improvements on Marionville Road to better connect Smokey Brae to the wider walking, wheeling and cycling routes.

The project team have been working closely with partners in Scottish Fire and Rescue Service around one of their proposals to redeploy the assets at Marionville Fire Station to a neighbouring station. Should these assets be redeployed prior to the delivery of this project, then proposals directly outside it will be adjusted to suit.

As well as these, we have since developed proposals for Marionville Road and are now asking for your feedback on this.
