The Knife Angel in Edinburgh

Bleed control kits

Pauline Bowie cofounder of has worked with Lisa Petrie, the LIFT team, funders, businesses, community organisations and public-sector partners, including to raise funding for bleed control kits. The aim is to have bleed control and trauma kits in all schools and community centres in Edinburgh.

LIFT and Lisa have developed a new bleed control kit called the John McNab Bleed Kit to help save the victims of knife and violent crime. The kits are assembled and distributed from .

These kits are one response to the recent increase in knife crime in Edinburgh and Scotland, and the tragic impact it has on families.

Lisa has championed the Knife Angel coming to Edinburgh to raise awareness of the impact of knife and violent crime. A partnership between the City of Edinburgh Council, Police Scotland and Places for People Scotland has made it possible for the Knife Angel to be in Leith during September 2026.
